Hi Warren ...and all;
It seems, now in Cannuckia, we have a place to call to remove
the pesks from the phone, who seem to call ...either during dinner
or when you're just trying to relax.
I have used it, as like Warren KB2VXA, I allow the answering
machine to pick-up every single call coming in, when I am at home
or not. I get the same group of hopefuls , leaving a message
that you have won "FREE" .....whatever .....OR call someone
for a moving truck <long distance> or whatever.
Not on the registery yet...but we'll see...
Apparent from the phones, some call, then ...just "happen" to
have a truck or person nearby to come to the door, for this and
that... Careful with this scam. I recently got some guy on
the phone going to give me FREE meat....but after someone dropped
by to speak to us .... What a pest..I thought it was important.
The usual crew still comes around the neighbourhood, and some
don't even bother to dropby, as unlike my family telling them
Not interested...I get into conversation with them, just a
chewing up their time....ending in them wanting to leave.
In a conversation with the phone company, about these pesk
calls, which are harassing .... I asked them if as in regulations
they are not harassing. No answer..then they say it is governed
by the Federal Agency we call CRTC. I questioned the CRTC...
nothing heard. Call the Bell and told them to disconnect the
phone .... that pushed a button there! Got to higher ups
and played all these tapes from the answering machine which
in some days just jam it and make it useless .... defeats the
purpose when I get these harassing calls.
Now funny thing ..... after wanting to cut my phone, and
making everyone aware of this, and why...via the media...the
calls have nearly stopped, and CRTC says to us all ..here is
this registery. I guess I was not the only one, to cut
service ....No customers....no service....no phone.
Warren...since I don't know the thread to put this under?
I will just say I got via the dish, some very disturbing video
of a standoff gone totally wrong. Your posting about the
CB police antics with a jammer... almost remind me of the
Super-CB 2meter band...and repeaters. Well this was totally
the opposite. It just seemed too easy...and could have
resolved itself....but turned the opposite.
