A friend of mins has the name Victor Pope. He got a little sick of
receiving teleadvertising calls from a centre apparently in India. The
phone rang one day and the accented voice statrted the usual way: "Good
morning sir let me congratulate you. You have won a brand new
cellphone......:"
My friend replied using a heavy accent supposedly Italian, "Good morning.
I am Cardinal Vittorio. You wish to speak to the Pope?"
There were hasty apologies and the caller bowed out. A ittle later a
further call came from the superviser profuse in apologies that they had
inadvertently rung the Vatican. "My son, you are forgiven," was the reply.
He has had no further calls.
Well that's his story anyway and who am I to question its veracity?
