Patrick says spam is illegal, based on anti - privacy laws in germany.

WE in the UK have Article 8 of the Human Rights Act (Privacy|) but, like a
lot of the Act e.g. freedom of Expression. it doesn't seem to get applied.

"Cold calling" door to door selling, was made illegal a few years ago but
we still get it. Whether the law is repealed or ignored, I don't know.

Sometimes, we get what I call the 'Lemonade Law'. There was a law
introduced around 1990 which said that soft drinks in bars must cost less
than beer. I used to drink pints of Cola because it looks like a dark beer
until it went to 4 times the price!
A friend who cannot drink alcohol was very annoyed becaus his lemonade
cost more than beer.

Perhaps we need another law. A law which says that the government must
make a public announcement when a new law is introduced or an existing law
scrapped.

Some people I know don't believe that the Minimum Wage law will last
forever. They didn't believe it applied to them when it was first
introduce
a year after Tony Blair went ot Amsterdam and signed up to it in 1997. It
was, and is, lower than the rest of Europe and doesen't apply to under
21s and some other groups.

Naturally, we don't really believe we could have any law against spam or
telesales calls.

All the best from - Ian, G0TEZ @ GB7FCR
