If my memory serves me correctly - there was some experiments done from a
commercial station In London quite a few years back (LBC ?)

It was abandoned...I wonder why...could it be that :

1) It was still a second class system compared to existing FM stations.

2) The quality was poor with the restricted bandwidth.

3) No one wanted to listen to more naff output from more pathetic DJ's
talking rubbish all day and paid for by the record companies who think
they KNOW what we like or even worse TELL US WHAT WE SHOULD LIKE ?

For non UK readers 99.9% of non BBC radio stations are *owned* by about 5
global record companies like Polydor. [Source - Radio Authority website]

Ho hum..no wonder listening choice is so restricted.

Radio is in a pathetic state.

BBC radio 1 caters for the ringtone generation these days, gone are the nights
of hiding the tranny under the bed pillows to listen to Peel Sessions.

The last entertaining pop station was Lazer 558 moored off Margate back in
1985 and Talk Radio UK - the alternative to BBC Radio 4 got turned into
a naff sports station (pass me a bucket please) a few years ago.

Nick Abbott got the boot from Virgin Radio - a true "shock jock" if Britain
ever had one ?

No wonder there's no interest in listening anymore.

DAB coverage is poor.

Even in Australia I found no one interested in am stereo.
I could hear one station "Stereo 1125" when I was in Williamstown S.A.
No one I knew had an am stereo receiver. Listening to UHF cb (which had the
lower 7 channels allocated to REPEATERS) was more fun to listen too :-)

Interesting sig block that...

Surely to be an fan of anything means one actually indulges in it.

What is it your listening to then ?
