Hello Andy G0FTD and all,
You did it on 2M but others do it on HF! Back when CB was worth something
I had wire baskets aside the rear wheel, one contained a car battery and
the other a Hallicrafters CB-5A, five channel crystal controlled (with
tunable receive) beast bristling with tubes. I had a steel whip mounted
behind me and rigged yp a control head, microphone and speaker on the
handlebars. Once I was nearly run over by another CBer and it has been a
running joke ever since because that CBer is now the president of JSARS,
my ARC and operator of the WT3V packet node/BBS.
I know another ham in northern NJ who still does it with an old 10M rig
and travels on his "10M Bicycle Mobile" sometimes for more than 100 miles
while chatting away.
C'mon, a 2M HT and tiny antenna draws little attention from the locals as
I toodle around town and EMBARASSED? Uh uh, people may turn thier heads
sometimes, but I just smile and wave as I pass on by. Among other things
I'm an exhibitionist, so maybe one day I'll do it naked...
BTW, no comments from the peanut gallery, I too saw the naked cyclist
wearing a tie on Monty Python. Just where do you think I came up with the
idea anyway? (;->)
