I know some years ago Mizuhu made ssb handhelds but I've never seen anything
in recent times.
Surely anyone wanting effective handheld communications on VHF/UHF would
be better off using ssb. Less duty cycle = extended battery life plus the
commications advantage in using ssb over FM makes it ideal.
Even ssb repeaters are possible, remember GB3SF (which I used to use years
ago) in Sheffield.
