Guess what ? Never heard of this. Was it a Tv show or something?

From my youth, I remember a song that was sung local, and mention
of all the "pufferbellys" all in a row, and yes...I agree with
you green...but then I saw bull ...all with same type goldleaf
and these appear in 1900s movies and short b&w clips.

Yes ... I like the idea at Beamish too. Even if started in 1970
they have done a great job to get this all done in such a short
time span...and they have the trust of those who are laoning their
prized relics.

As with the Science Museum in London, there are others as well, as
I am sure those in UK can verify. We might be lucky to hear from
our Packeteers from UK. After all it is a nation loaded with
history, and presevered. Not like the "nits" in Cannuckia.

Warren. Coventry. Not Covington. You might be thinking of an
America placename. I think it was right. If he had acted,
it would have blown the Intel, that the Allies had, and were
reading. Coventry was always spoken of by my parents.

York may well be. Capital of Yorkshire, and a walled city.
Museums are there... then here or there, and everywhere
stnading or plaques, or still being dicovered on digs, and
of course that UK TV series that explores ...what happened
here and there? They have also shown some interesting
places in their quests of exploration.

> Anyway, York is the only National Railway Museum I heard of,
> sure there are other museums and several private railways

Lots of them. Private estates too..the list goes on

> but only one York?

Thank goodness for that.

I realize that supplys were sent from many ports, to the convoy
meeting spot in Canada for the trip to UK. I give a conservative
estimate of 20,000 men lost on both sides in that battle over
the convoys. Sailors both sides, have reunions and have visted
places to throw wreaths over to mark the spot and the respect
and saddness they feel... Some never get over it.

Yes No#4472 was shipped to Australia in 1980s to celebrate their
bi-centenary. I wonder what engines were shipped in WW2..they
must be collector's items too? Gee.... you really had me wondering
why maybe in WW2, they'd ship to OZ...a railway item still in use?

I guess in the case of those two sunk locomoives... some logbook
and insurance records hold the answer? Both upright together
is an amazing feat under water, if they came off in a storm?
Mabe lashed together, one took the other? Interesting stiil !

> Lastly, I don't know of a museum in Scotland but the
> Welsh Highland Railway comes to mind... hmmm.

Now you are going to get a Scot or Welshman comment on that.
Like there is a difference between Wales and Scotland.
