Hi Pete and all,
Yeah, I know what you mean about "world famous" being all in the eye of
the beholder. It all depends what world you live in, I once dated a world
famous vocalist (Oh and she had some voice!) from Taiwan but outside the
club in Queens, NY she was just another Chinese chick. Then I'm sure you
know about our World Series of baseball, the closest THAT comes to the
world are the Blue Jays from Toronto. I'd like to see our guys batthe the
Japanese!
You reminded me, I really should revisit the Puffing Billy Rwys web site
for an update, I'm just a FEW years behind. You said there was a name
plate stolen, I presume you mean builder's plate? I remember when the one
was stolen from the last Camelback locomotive taken out of service and on
display at the B&O RR Museum in Baltimore, MD. Now I wonder what they did
with the loco after the roundhouse roof fell on it during a snowstorm,
it's around somewhere but not the centerpiece of the indoor exhibit.
Heh, as I grew up I migrated from the electric models that came out only
once a year to the real thing, living only a few blocks from the PRR
Northeast Corridor rather helped. Those models didn't go to waste, one of
the NJ Ham radio dealers is a rail fan and avid modeler, I got my first
"shack" in trade. Oh and I'm not a "foamer" either, not a walking
encyclopedia of rolling stock even, I just like trains.
