I just remember the smell of oil and steam mixed with coal...then
of course someone would also relate that to a warship laying down
smoke to cover the fleet.

I went to that site Warren, and like the rest, it was most enjoyable
with what they have there, and the town the way it is layed out.

I also look for the originals. Mr. Trevithick's working 1804
model , and used in the mines of wales, was the best. Before that
Murdoch and Watt, and the model steam carriage, then also credits
to FRANCE for earlier ideas, and then the ROCKET's boiler system
which is due to a French design, with tubes ... and it takes
on International flavour. I am now looking into a Peter Cooper
of the US < 1790s> and one American from 1774 also interested
in this development.

I will have to go back thru the data I got and sites to visit for
the contributions of FRANCE and anyother country to the first
engine. I know after the original ROCKET...there were modifications
and well I don't mind seeing them too, as it gives a story of
developing an idea and improving on the design.

NO coffee tonight ... the thermos has tea... I am finding out now
that I like tea better then coffee.

Yepper !!!! Got that train too in my ascii file.

One interesting item I saw stirred a memory of my Aunt, and it
was the mention of "puffing Billie" ... and now finally after too
many years... and this memory...I finally got to see "puffing billie"
in action.

  Toot-Toot .... I'm leaving for another site....
