Hi Peter the verbose and all,

Sheesh, cramming all those replies into one monster bull sure beats
David's K score and Bob's confusion factor by miles! No way can I deal
with it but I'll poke it here and there with my sharp stick.

OK, so Citizens Banned turned out to be a whacker movie, not surprisingly
I forgot all about it. Frankly now I don't even remember seeing it on TV
having seen enough whackers and porcupines so if I did it was just
another CB nightmare.

Funny you should mention a boater in distress calling on a cell phone, we
had just such an incident yesterday. Two nearby PDs were relaying info
back and forth each having jurisdiction on one of the causeways over the
bay where this guy got in trouble. He was going in circles for some
reason not quite determined and ended up clinging to some old pilings
where he was rescued and taken aboard a larger vessel. No mention of his
was made being taken in tow, hmmm. It only goes to show a cell phone is
no substitute for marine radio, even an HT would have gotten him Sea Tow
and avoided all the confusion the local cops had to endure.

Hmmm, I remember the Sonar FS-23 and quite a few more of their products,
I still have a 5 channel marine portable floating around somewhere. Are
you sure you have that CB-3A right? I had a Hallicrafters CD-5A humming
under the dash of a 1063 Oldsmobile with a Hustler top load mounted on
that wide rear deck between the rear window and the trunk. The base was a
Citifone something or other made by Clegg, those were the days when CB
was a sideline of major ham radio manufacturers and they were made in
USA. Oh, The Crusher was pleased knowing that Sonar was in Brooklyn NY,
UUUUGHGHGHHHH Punkie! Oh never mind, that's just a bit of my multiple
personality disorder surfacing, sometimes he gets out of control.

Speaking of Jericho, when the first episode was aired there began the
usual Internet discussion but I never noticed some of the gear they
mentioned. What caught my eye was the familiar and my favorite 2M am rig,
the Gonset Communicator 2 painted in Civil Defense yellow with black
lettering and the red, white and blue CD logo. So, what survives the EMP
after a nuclear war? TUBES! Funny how that was rediscovered at the outset
of Destert Storm when ESD caused by wind blown sand knocked out the
radios and they had to raid Army MARS for the old Collins rigs. What a
laugh when the DoD contractors scrambed to repar, retrofit and reship the
solid state stuff just in time for the end of it.

Oh good grief, don't remind me of my mad scientist days, I set the woods
on fire and nearly blew up the school. To keep it short I'll just warn
any of you potential brainiacs not to bring a Tesla coil into a school
with metal frame desks and don't sprinkle piceric acid on the marble
floor in the hall just to watch them dance.

Nah, I don't think Andy would appreciate Bob borrowing the shopping
trolley only to lose it in the Outback. Just what would he do while whale
watching on the beach without it? Then the kangaroos wouldn't know what
to do with it but the Aboriginals would, they'd toss the radio, wrap it
in kangaroo hide and make a drum out of it. Everyone has a different way
of communicating and those guys are smarter than Andy, they don't have to
charge the battery.

You can pedal the generator if you want to but I still haven't figured
out what to do with Bob. Would you suggest having him operate the packet
radio or hook him up to the generator? In any case I've decided it's
better to film in Canada where a lot of labor hassles can be avoided and
we can set Bob out on the lake in winter just to cheese him off enough to
be a convincing packet operator, that is unless the generator defrosts
him. Ah decisions decisions...

That's enough for now or I won't have any bull left for the next bull.

73 de Warren
