Hi Neil and all,
Cell phones are quite adept at reporting thier GPS locations and can be
tracked from any computer on the Internet with proper software just like
APRS so scratch that idea, been there, done that.
You've never seen a ham movie in the cinema, ever wonder why? Yup, B O R
I N G, boring. If you want an audience it must grab attention so there
must be action and intrigue, a touch of humor and a worthwhile plot
focusing on some sort of disaster, natural, man made or from outer space.
Hams can play a part but not steal the show if it's to be of any interest
to the general public.
That's why I wrote my tongue in cheek bull from the casting office, our
packeteers are such characters they'll not go unnoticed. Naturally it was
as usual written with sharp stick in hand but the idea was to point out
how we fit in and the roles we play, we are interesting people. Brent
Spiner played the "mad scientist" in Independence Day providing a bit of
humor, Bob VK6BE always gets it wrong, how about a mad ham who always
gets it wrong and goes screaming naked across the Outback with a portable
only to encounter stranded Aboriginals in distress and calls for help? He
saves the day which is just like Bob, he saves me from an otherwise
boring day that would have me naked screaming up the beach. Give him and
each of us credit for inspiration, I don't think Paul Hogan can handle a
radio and come off as funny as Bob.
See that Bob, my sharp stick loves you and we love you too, you can be a
star, a light shining in the darkness... if you set yourself on fire.
