Hi David and all,

Yup, I've seen Frequency many times and it never ceases to amuse. One
thing that immediately grabbed my attention was the CB QSL cards
plastered all over the place with very few ham cards among them. Having
been a CBer and SWL at the time (1969) I recognized many of the callsigns
(CB was a licensed service then) as being authentic and crom the NYC
area, many of which I had QSOed with and knew rather well.

If I remember right the Heath transceiver was an SB-101, an excellent
rig. I just wonder how he ever managed to get a signal out with the beam
being in such poor condition and his operating would label him a lid so
no ham in his right mind would go back to him. Add the fact that an
unidentified station is considered as unlicensed and the FCC rules forbid
communications with an unlicensed station.

Well, it IS Science Fiction, mostly fiction. (;->)

I've never seen an aurora so intense so far south but I have seen them,
not all that farfetched. The interesting bit is I wonder how they could
deal with the LDEs spanning so many years especially since they went in
reverse. Like I said, it is Science Fiction.

They handled the Paradox Theory very well and that's what made for the
riveting intrigue, sort of like Doctor Who fixing his own messes. Hmmm,
only the Daleks, Cybermen, Face of Bo and the cat people were missing.
Oh, don't forget the crabs at the bottom and the pollution in New New New
New New York, they finally got around to that episode the other night but
I digress.

I have seen plenty of presentations of all sorts that portray hams as
nerdy types but don't forget Einstein in his shabby clothes, fuzzy
sweater and unkempt hair, that's how he's so well remembered and revered.
Then there's "Homer Ham" but it's actually his sister in law Patty who
has that tranceiver that has an odd resemblence to a Gonset Communicator.
Then there's Herman Munster and a few others you'd never guess unless you
happened to catch one particular episode. Yup, we're quite a collection
of weirdoes and you surely remember Glen GM1JWC our very own packet
WEIRDO. No fuzzy sweater, looks more like a zippered sweatshirt to me.

Sooo... we're not so badly represented after all! (;->) Ah, maybe they'll
come up with another ham related movie showing us in a better light, that
is if Hollywood can screw in the bulb. (Make up your own "how many" light
bulb jokes please.) Oh wait a minute, if they make it in the UK all bets
are off, your light bulbs have bayonette bases.
