         Press Release Nr.30-95
        Paris, 11 August 1995
        ESA twenty years old!
1975-1995. The European Space Agency has been in
        existence for twenty years.
To mark the occasion, a symposium attended by some
of the main contributors to the establishment of ESA
and current political figures will be held on 4, 5 and
6 September 1995 at the Deutsches Museum, Munich.
The various sessions will be built around the main
theme: why have a European Space Agency? Why not
simply develop national programmes? Or keep to bi-
or multilateral cooperation with selected partners?
The participants will endeavour to articulate the
political and industrial, but also scientific reasons for
setting up and promoting European space activities.
Parallel to this event, an exhibition featuring ESA
activities and programmes is also being held at the
Deutsches Museum from 20 August to 19 September.
Journalists wishing to obtain further information or
attend should fax their request to the ESA Public
        Relations Division: (+33 1) 53 69 76 90.

best regards Hermann Schneider
