Hi there,

I am trying to do a little fancy printing on an EPSON LQ-100
ESC/P2 printer.

I am able to use most of the facilities described in the manual,
but the 'Select Font by Pitch and Point' has me baffled.

Tha manual says ESC X nn - but then immediately continues
with ESC X m n1 n2, and I am unable to understand what that
is supposed to mean: How many bytes shall follow ESC X?
It seems that three bytes is right, but I don't know.

The first byte seems to control character spacing, but it
also seems to have something with character width/height to do?

Further: m: Set pitch to 360/m CPI
         m = 0: No change in pitch
         m = 1: Select proportional
         m = 0,1,18......
         n = n1+n2x256
         n: Set point size in 0.5 points
         Total points = (n1+n2 x 256) x 0.5
         n = 0: No change in point
         n: 0, 16,21 .....

I just don't understand this- do you? I have done a lot of
experimenting with sending different code combinations to
the printer, but I don't find the results consistent, and
I really hope somebody can throw some light on this
confusing matter. Yes, ihave spent days trying to untangle
this mess - and there are other things I'd prefer doing
instead!
