Will you stop being a Chicken Licken and apply some common sense. You are
meant to be qualified in a technical subject, so stop and think.

The demo was to show that wireless power transmission is possible. Now
anyone with any technical understanding knows that you can do that. This
demo had to impress dumb journalists and the even dumber common man. In
order to do that you want to show a *HUGE AMOUNT* of power being sent.
Hence the use of a 60W bulb. That gives the demo a Wow! factor to get it
onto to non-technical papers.

Now did you see how big the antenna was? About 75cms diameter. They wanted
to move 60W worth of power. So they had used a low frequency and a big
antenna. Now the real target of this idea is powering small handheld gizmos
such as remote controls, mp3 players, phones. And not necessarily over 2m
but often in providing "charging pads" or "charging zones" where you would
place your gizmo to get it recharged without having to plug it in. Can you
see people having an mp3 player the size of an iPod Nano and then having a
75cm 5 turn helix "power antenna" with them? No! They have a tiny antenna
in the unit and it will use much high frequencies. Do you want to move 60W
worth about for pocket gizmos? Nope, milliwatts to a watt or two to charge
up the batteries of gizmos and laptops is where this is aimed.

There. See if you had stopped and thought for a moment you wouldn't have
gone rushing around like Chicken Licken whilst everyone else stood back and
sniggered at you having a tizzy fit.

And one final point. The luddites make a huge fuss about the non-existent
danger from a few watts of RF from phone masts hundreds of metres away from
them.

What do think the ill informed outcry about this kind of technology will be
like?

Exactly! You can stop clucking now.
