Hi UHF-er,
the REF/DUBUS-contest really started after locating a broken air
hybrid N-connector.
Before 1700Z, we 'd been listening to noise, nothing but noise...
After completing this soldering work the following stations were worked:
F6CGJ, OE9XXI, F1ANH, OZ4MM, N2IQU, F5PAU, OH2AXH, KB2AH and SM3AKW.
The propagation on saturday was not exceptional.
On sunday, we decided to mount the dual stage PHEMT LNA at the feedhorn
and this resulted in a much improved system noise figure.
(Before we were listening behind abt. 20m 7/8"-cable)
A new world was opening up!
After loosing the clouds, the moon became visible and propagation went mad!
We started hearing consistent echoes and the following QSO's resulted:
EA6ADW, F5PL, G3LTF, PA3CSG, F6KSX (?), ZS6AXT, VE1ALQ, LA8LF,
OK1KIR, K2DH, N6BQ, WB5LUA, K2UYH, LX1DB, W2UHI, K4QI, VE4MA.
The performance of the hb 6m dish is still impressing me,
some signals were extremely loud, the 100W from a 2X2C39PA improved
our signals dramatically, (compared to the 40W, we'd been using before),
judged on the ease of working some stations and the reports received.
I hope you enjoyed the contest as much as we did.
On behalf of the ON5RR-multi-operator crew,
Michel, ON7EH @ ON7RC-5
