Hello brothers and sisters in Christ,
the bad condx and roblems with the saturday
DX Net schedule brought me to have a look
at the DX prediction in the German CQ-DL
magazine. The predictions from DL to some
DX QTHs for April are as follows:
New York (U.S. east coast)
--------------------------
1400 UTC: one of the worst times...!
best 28MHz time: 19-20 UTC if any
best 21MHz time: 18-21 UTC not reliable
best 14MHz time: 20-24 UTC
Kapstadt (ZS)
-------------
14 UTC: equal but not reliable on 21 or 28 MHz
best 28Mhz time: 14-17 UTC not reliable
best 21MHz time: 15-19 UTC peaking 17 UTC, good
best 14MHz time: 17-20 UTC looks very reliable
Sydney (VK, east coast mainly)
------------------------------
best 28MHz time: 08-10 UTC not reliable
best 21MHz time: 07-09 UTC long path
best 14MHz time: 06-09 UTC long path,
15-22 UTC short path
No explicit forecast for VU, but Singapore (9V)
peaks around 16 UTC on 21 MHz and 15-20 UTC
on 14 MHz. If VU2BGI would be around....
DL-G-TF should be possible on 14 Mhz about any time
if the skip is not too short. Otherwise 7 Mhz
would be best....
Consequences:
-------------
The path DL(EU)-ZS could stay at 14 UTC, but a bit
later would be more reliable.
USA should change to 18 UTC or later, however there
might be a little chance earlier on 21 MHz.
EU/G-VK should be organzized by the active stations
of the Monday schedule.
I cannot make such predictions for paths like
USA-ZS. Perhaps somebody else can add this.
May I propose to split the net for summer time?
- 15 UTC for EU-ZS with a shifted schedule as before
(28->21->14->18 MHz)
This would be the former "Early Asia Net".
DL-G QSOs to follow the DX on 14 Mhz if conditions
permit.
- 19 UTC for EU-USA with a shifted schedule as before
(28->21->14->18 MHz)
Try 21 UTC if no success at 19 UTC.
I would like to avoid 16-18.30 UTC due to familiar reasons.
Please add Your favourite or non-favourite times....
By the way.... my Pactor gateway DA5UBM is QRV nearly 24 hours
a day, most time beaming south (for EA7/DJ8YK and 5X4K).
Any station QRV in Pactor could try to connect to check
conditions even if antenna direction does not match.
RX here is excellent, power is about 20 Watts.
Try 28.076, 21.076, 14.076 MHz MARK.
Another excellent condition test is to listen to the
NCDXF/IARU beacons! 3 minutes listening on 28.200,
24.930, 21.150, 18.110 and 14.100 each will show You
what is actually going on.
Last comment: My hydraulic mast is damaged. Actually it works
with 2m less hight than normal, but the future might force
my beam to be down.... sigh. I would then try to use
some provisorial antenna or go mobile.
501, Michael
