IREF ---> The new web site for the Island Radio Expedition Foundation (IREF)
is up and running at http://www.islandradio.org. In 2002 IREF sponsored 13
expeditions that represented 16 different IOTA references (OC-051, OC-077,
OC-090, OC-126, OC-186, OC-235 plus ten new ones: AF-092, AS-161, AS-165,
NA-222, OC-248, OC-249, OC-250, OC-252, OC-253, OC-254). More than $5,500 was
granted to help fund these expeditions that produced more than 47,000 QSOs.
Contributions to the expeditions ranged from $150 to $700 depending on the
difficulty and rarity of the island. [TNX AD5A]
MIAMI TROPICAL HAMBOREE ---> The South Florida DX Association will be hosting
the DX Forum at this year's Miami Tropical Hamboree on 1 February. For
further information on the event, as well as on the DX "Happy Hour" Cocktail
Party and the DX Dinner, please visit
http://www.qsl.net/k4fk/Tropical_Hamboree.html [TNX W4DTA]
NEW PREFIX ---> IQ (India Quebec) is currently being issued as ordinary
prefix club stations in Italy. For example, IQ4AD is the permanent callsign
for the Parma ARI Branch.
Since IQ is no longer a special prefix for individual Italian amateurs, those
who held an IQ contest callsign shall change it. For example, Andrea/IV3SKB
(ex IQ3X) will now be using IU3Y in major contests. QSL IU3Y via IV3SKB.
QSL EU-073 ---> All of the direct requests for IJ7/IZ8DBJ and IJ7/IZ8AJQ (San
Pietro Island, September 2002) have been processed and mailed; the remaining
QSOs have been confirmed automatically through the bureau. [TNX IZ8AJQ]
QSL FW8FP ---> "The QSL cards for FW8FP are not ready", Bill Horner, VK4FW
reports. "I am receiving literally hundreds of emails about this" Please be
patient, "the cards will be done as soon as received from the printer".
