12/29/2002: Takeshi, JI3DST, will be active between 06:00 UTC December 29th
to 00:00 UTC January 5th as JI3DST/6 from Miyako Island (AS-079, Miyako-jima
Hirara-City Okinawa-ken Japan). Operation will be on 40, 17, 15, 12, 10 and
6 meters SSB. QSL via JI3DST, direct or bureau. [tnx OPDX]
12/30/2002: Nuccio, I7YKN/p, plans to be active December 30th from Torre
Santa Caterina di Narḍ (DCI reference LE-073 for the Italian Castles
Award). Start time will be approximately 09:00 UTC, on 20 meters. The Tower
Santa Caterina is located in the Region of Puglia, Province of Lecce (LE).

12/30/2002: 12/30/2002: Franco, IK4DCS/p, plans to be active December 30th
from three DCI reference, for the Italian Castles Award. He plans to
activate from the Castle of Casteldidone (DCI reference CR-004), Castle of
Saint Giovanni In Cross (DCI reference CR-022) and the Tower of the Castle
of Casalmaggiore (DCI reference CR-002). Start time will be approximately

12/30/2002: Howie, K1VSJ/p, will be active (CW and SSB) between December
30, 2002, and January 1, 2003, from Martha's Vineyard (NA-046, USI MA-005S,

12/30/2002: Joe Pater, W8GEX, and John Walker, WZ8D, will be active as N8Z
from St. Croix, Virgin Islands (NA-106) between December 30th, 2002, and
January 8th, 2003. Operation will be from the QTH of WP2Z, 160 through 6
meters. John will monitor 50.125 for the USA and 50.110 for Europe; if the
band opens look for him on 50.122 CW or SSB. QSL direct to WZ8D. [tnx

01/2003: Ric, CE9R, will back on King George Island, South Shetlands
(AN-010), in January 2003 from "Escudero" Base (WABA CE-11). QSL via CE3HDI.

01/2003: Wally, RU1ZC (R1ANZ), will be staying at Mirny base (WABA UA-07,
IOTA AN-016) for another season until 2004. He can be found on 14160 kHz

01/01/2003: Look for VP5/W6XK (QSL via homecall) and VP5/N6EE (QSL via
homecall) to be active (on all bands RTTY, with CW and SSB operations mainly
on the WARC and low bands) from the VP5B contest station on North Caicos
(NA-002) between January 1st and 7th. They will participate in the ARRL RTTY

01/02/2003: Chris, DL5NAM, announced his activity from Bonaire (SA-006) for
January 2nd to 18th. He will be signing PJ4/DL5NAM. QSL via home call,

01/03/2003: Derek, GM0EEY/p, and Vivien, MM3VIV/p, intend to activate
Scalpay (IOSA OH-25, SCOTIA HI-19, EU-010) January 3rd and possibly Great
Bernera (IOSA OH-12, SCOTIA HI-27, EU-010) January 4th or 5th. QSL via home

01/03/2003: Eric, VA7DZ, will be active from St Martin's Island (AS-127 -
Chittagong Region Group), Bangladesh, between January 3rd and 4th. He will
be using the call S21/VA7DZ. Operation will be QRP with Elecraft K2, Sigma-5
vertical. QSL 100% via VA7DZ (Eric Manning, 2909 Phyllis Street, Victoria,

01/04/2003: Antonio, IZ8CCW, will be active as I8/IZ8CCW (weather
permitting) January 4th and 5th from Scogli Coreca (not IOTA, IIA CS-004)
and Scoglio Formicola (not IOTA, IIA CS-003). QSL via home call, direct or

01/04/2003: Alan, K4AVQ, will be active as P40AV from Aruba (SA-036)
between January 4th and 18th. Operation will be on all bands 160 through 10
meters, however, he will be spending extra time on 160/80 meters CW looking

01/10/2003: A group of CX's will be active from San Gabriel Island (SA-057)
between January 10th and 13th as CV1F. They will also be activating Farallon
Lighthouse (URU-003). San Gabriel Island is 1 mile from the Lighthouse but
access to Farallon Island is restricted. There is no Lighthouse on San
Gabriel. Operation will be on 40 through 6 meters SSB, CW and maybe some

01/15/2003: CA6TBB (Gladys), CE6AMN (Carlos), CE6TBN (Marco), CE6AKH
(Jaime), XQ5SM (Fernando) and CE6NE (Mario) will be active January 15th to
18th as CE6M from Mocha Island (SA-061). Operation will be 160 through 10
meters, SSB and CW. QSL to P.O. Box 591, Temuco, Chile. [tnx 425DXN]
01/16/2003: Robert, 3A2MY, will sign LU/3A2MY between January 16th and 23rd
from the Aconcagua, the highest peak of South American Andes mountains, 6959
metres asl. He will be there with the Alibert expedition members. Robert
will use a home made QRP transceiver with 5 watts out, supplied by solar
cells. Frequency and mode: 14280 to 14290 kHz SSB. A special QSL card will
be issued when return to Monaco. [tnx F5NQL]
01/17/2003: Steve, G4EDG, will be active from Stewart Island (OC-203) as
ZL4/G4EDG from late on January 17th for approximately 4 full days. He will
be active on CW only and running only 100w with a YAESU FT900 IOTA set
kindly donated by YAESU to ZL4HU some years back for this type of operation.
Steve will be active mostly on 20 meters. QSL via home call, direct or

Recent Updates -
02/12/2003: Pierre, F6FXS, will be active once more from his son's on
Guadeloupe Main island (NA-102, DIFO FG-001) between February 12th and
March, 12th as FG/F6FXS. It's a CW only activity, but also a holiday one.
Pierre will run about 30 watts from an IC706 and wire antenna. Look for him
on 40 through 10 meters, but mainly around 14030, 18070, 21030 or 28030 kHz
(+/- QRM), in the morning and the evening (local time = UTC minus 4). QSL

04/13/2003: Jean-Marc, F5SGI/p, will be active April 13th to 19th from
Groix Island (EU-048, DIFM AT-012). Operation will be CW only. QSL via home
