Well Windows isnt a real time OS but it is that bad. It might not gurantee
events happen to millisecond accuuracy like some specific real time OS can
but it's sloppiness extends to 10s to 100s of milliseconds. Not seconds.
If it was that bad you wouldn't be able to play video or mp3 on Windows!
The use of a programme to tell you which beacon is transmitting is useful
as you know what to listen for. Just as listening for a beacon enables you
to get the time.
It's not a case of either/or but one of both being useful depending on the
case at hand.
As for Morse... well you'll never win an argument with the Morse bashers
simply because anyone who fails to see utilitarian usefulness of Morse is
normally too stupid to have anything of value to say and you can only argue
against reason.
