Hello all Signallers.
I read the bulletin from Ted, VK2WL, and agree with him about the Aldis Lamp.
I used the same type, about 130-150cm (5-6 inch) in diameter and up to 20cm
(6-7 inch) long with a near vertical handle below, and a sight tube above.
A mirror was tilted by a trigger as Ted explained, to aim the light from a
continuous lamp. I got these from war surplus disposals after WW2 and used
them for Scout communications, so no service experience, but I understood
they were ex army signalling lamps.
I knew them as Aldis Lamps, but there may have been other versions.
