Well, one reply from NL, though I didn't get time to finish this bulletin
for a while.
You want to see who are still on packet, but then you suggest giving a reply
by e-mail. OK, I agree that a personal via packet is not really reliable,
but then I do think a packet bulletin is much more in place to reply on your
request.

I do run a dedicated packet system at home, but I currently do not have a
portable station operational as my 'Steam Portable' 386SX16 is refusing to
start due to a failed battery backup.
I do have a laptop available that I want to install for portable use with
DR-DOS and JNOS to run with a Baycom modem or a TNC.

My home station is running on several PC's, all with JNOS; the main Radio
BBS, a HTTP-server and a machine used as smtp-server for the bulk-mail that
is no problem taking a day more to arrive at the destination. OK, that might
sometimes be many Megabytes and these would certainly delay personal mail if
it would be in the same queue.

I did set up a machine that will be used as InterneP BBS and a machine that
I want tu use as News Server (NNTP) to read and write bulletins from the
mailer on the Windoooze machine.

My old 'terminal' 486DX2-66 machine is still there, though only used as a
backup and when I have to unpack 7plus files. I also would have to use that
machine if I would have to encode 7plus. Well, as said we locally only use
attachments in personal mail sent using the mailer on Windooze since a few
years. For the rest I have a JNOS running in a DOS-box on my old W98SE
machine (has an extra ethernet card solely for JNOS).

All Packet machines are on a local ethernet (UTP) that is connected to our
ADSL (via a router/firewall) as well as that this ethernet is accessible
from our Windooze network (another router/firewall).

TCP/IP currently only works in our area due to discontinuity in the Packet
Network. But the page on the above mentioned HTTP-server is (locally)
accessible over Radio. But, when connecting via Internet to pe1biv.net, you
will get the same page from the same server.

The packet machines have seen quite a few machines over time. The first
dedicated packet machine was my 386DX40 board after upgrading my tower to a
486DX4-120 in '96. The 'terminal' and the HTTP-server both started on an IBM
model 30 XT (8MHz) and back then were connected via serial links.
The 386 was replaced with a P166 and the 'terminal' became a 286 and then a
486DX2-66 while the 286 moved to the HTTP-server and then the later added
smtp-server when the HTTP-server had moved to a 486.
The HTTP-server is now a P133 while the smtp-server now also is a P133.
So, basically I have seen all stages of computer technology in my Packet
system.

The machines ready for the InterneP BBS and the NNTP-server are resp. a P200
and a P166. I'm busy with a P2-266 and Linux to replace the P133
HTTP-server.
My station fully runs with (compressed) FBB forwarding as well as smtp.

I currently don't have any station pics, as I don't have any interesting pic
for that. Besides, these would (and will) be on the page (HTTP-server).
Currently it is a nice stack of PC's for packet and Internet in our hall.
For my personal pic, I do not see any reason why I would mail that to
anyone, except to friends in a batch of pics from some event.
