I could hardly believe this. Some years ago I bought an Epson 720 Photo
colour printer for around $400. It is a very good printer and it does a
very good job, and the replacement cartridges have been relatively cheap.
I went in today to the shop where I bought it to buy replacement ink
cartridges. I was told they are no longer available as it is cheaper to
replace the printer. The cartridges cost about $25 for colour and less
than that for black. total about $50.

I had bought another Epson for about $100 - model C87 colour for a second
computer setup I have here. Saved changing the printer from one set up to
the other. It does not do as good a job as the 720 and it is not as
reliable. Now it seems I am supposed to throw the perfectly good Epson 720
in the bin and buy a new printer because the makers no longer supply
cartidges? This is ridiculous!
