     CEPT AMATEUR RADIO CLUB (CARC)

As reported in the "ERO Newsletter" and in several amateur
radio publications a new Club is about to be formed princi-
pally aimed at amateurs who are employees of the CEPT (Con-
ference of European Postal and Telecommunications Administra-
tions) or are employees of CEPT administrations, the radio
regulatory authorities in Europe. The CARC may also be open
to other amateurs who are closely associated with CEPT ac-
     tivities.

For the information of some readers of this message the CEPT
is the organisation that developed and approved Recommenda-
tions T/R 61-01 and T/R 61-02 the CEPT amateur licence and
the harmonised amateur radio examination certificate.

The main objective of the CARC will be to provide a forum
for CEPT amateurs to meet other like minded individuals en-
gaged in similar professional activities. An additional ob-
jective will be to publicise CEPT's activities with respect
to the amateur and amateur-satellite services. It is hoped
that membership of the CARC will entail minimal or no cost to
     members.

Plans are being formulated to establish a headquarters sta-
tion, regular nets for members and an award programme de-
signed to recognise operating achievements in all amateur
bands (MF to EHF) allocated to the amateur service in CEPT
     member countries.

The first meeting of the CARC will be held during the forth-
coming CEPT Radio Conference and will take place at 19.30 on
Tuesday 22 November 1994 in the ground floor conference room
at the Prague Intercontinental Hotel, Czech Republic. All
amateurs that are qualified for membership of the CARC will
     be most welcome.

The agenda will include the election of club officials, the
constitution , the award programme, headquarters station, net
frequencies and a brain storming session to determine addi-
tional club objectives and activities. Anyone who cannot at-
tend the Prague meeting is welcome to submit written propos-
     als.

The headquarters of the CARC will be the European Radiocommu-
nications Office, an international organisation within the
     CEPT located at:
Holsteinsgade 63, DK-2100 Copenhagen, Denmark. All mail for
the CARC should be clearly marked for the attention of the
     Secretary CARC.

Thank you for reading this message. 73s Dave OZ3SDL@OZ6BBS.
