5P1ER is the call sign station of the CEPT amateur radio
club (CARC) which is located at the European
Radiocommunications Office (ERO) in Copenhagen, the
capital city of Denmark.
The European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications
Administrations (CEPT) the 42 member regional regulatory
telecommunications organisation for Europe, brings
together the radio regulatory administrations of CEPT
member countries in the ERC (European Radiocommunications
Committee). The ERC determines European policy for all
radio services including the amateur and amateur-
satellite services. The ERO is the permanent office of
the ERC.
In addition to frequency allocation questions, the ERC is
responsible for the CEPT Radio Amateur Licence T/R 61-01
which for many CEPT countries simplifies the licensing of
short duration amateur activities, for amateurs coming
from countries also a party to T/R 61-01. Recommendation
T/R 61-02 is the Harmonised Amateur Radio Examination
Certificate (HAREC) which facilitates amateurs from
countries within the HAREC system to obtain a licence in
another country if their stay is longer than 3 months.
The Government of Denmark is host to the ERO and because
of the special status of the Office in Denmark, the
Danish radio regulatory administration has kindly
allocated the callsign 5P1ER to the CARC headquarters
station. Further information concerning the CEPT, ERO
and the CARC, including details of the annual CEPT Radio
Conference or the CARC award programme to encourage
excellence in amateur radio operations on all allocations
between 1800 kHz and 248 GHz may be obtained by sending a
self addressed envelope and 2 ircs to the Secretary CARC,
ERO, Holsteinsgade 63, DK-2100 Copenhagen.
