Very well written, of course I did read the whole article you wrote.
I agree there are a lot of bad operators active on CB, mainly busy with
local chats. Though, indeed there are operators with good intentions on
CB.
A small minority ? I don't think so, but you won't hear them so often as
they are always listening. As far as I know the CB prefixes are in use for
about 25 years and related to HAM prefixes, why should they be approved
when it is illigal ? I think the serious operators on CB only want to have
a chat with their serious friends and don't care about those who abuse the
free CB radioband.
By the way, did you know a lot of new CB operators do not know about
amateurradio ? They hear other CB operators talk and think that to be
stupid is the way you talk on the radio. I started with CB for about 20
years ago. The I never heard about amateurradio the first 5 years and
before. Then I heard about it and I did read some books. They told me the
VHF/UHF equipment and license fee was very expensive and the examination
very difficult. At that time I was a student and had no money, so I just
kept it by CB because that equipment is cheap in comparisation.
Finally I got my HAM ticket now, but once and a while I talk to my old
friends on CB. I ignore the stupid operators and have some nice chats,
just as good as on the HAM bands !!!
