In reply to G7SKU@GB7MAX.#GBR.EU and YB2WW@YB2WW.YB2ZEX.BTL.DIY.IND.OC..
In South Africa the legal frequencies is from channel 27 to 19..
Now here they have a gentlemans agreement that the AM stations use from
27.185 to 27.255 for AM only..That is channel 19 to 23..Channel 21 is used
for emergency use only...
The sidebands use from channel 24 to 27...That is 27.235 to 27.275....
The AM users use the channel 19 as a calling channel..
The SSB users use the channel 27 as a calling channel..
They are only allowed 12 w power on SSB and 4 w power on AM...
They are not allowed to use a gain antenna..
Now listening on these frequencies from time to time we do hear these
Indonesia stations coming through and unfortunatly they do not or cannot
speak English...They sometimes use FM that causes quite a terrable noise
out here in South Africa...
My own opinion is that they should not be allowed FM on these frequencies.
Maybe Om YB2WW can relay this call aswell to there authoroties..
Thank you and best 73 and 88 From Hans and Marietjie...
