Not really.

What does CB packet offer over amateur packet ?

What does 10 watts of cb ssb offer over cb ssb ?

With give away amateur licences these days cb has become redundant
for the radio hobbyist.

The only use cb has is having cheap equipment that can be left in the car
for local comms to friends who also dont want the expense - and a few
watts
of FM is more than adequate for the purpose.

On the other hand - I cannot see what 10 watts any mode on 27Mhz
(erp limited by typical antennas) to having a FL'er using 10 watts
from 136Khz - 440Mhz ?

Both are as technically competant as each other and the CB equipment is
probably at LESS risk of causing "undue intereference" than that of
the wider range of FL'er equipment.

The widespread use of 27Mhz in all forms has been around since Marconi
was had an electronics kit for xmas and always will be so why continue
regulating the unregulatable ?

Is there a hidden agenda I wonder.
