Summary of CASIO watch "Module No. 950" (Twin Sensor) USER'S GUIDE,
on 16/Nov/1998, by Milton Teuner - PY3PSI:
Water resist 100m only to Snorkeling and diving. Button operation un-
derwater is allowed, but do not operate recessed buttons. If watch is
exposed to salt water, wash thoroughly and wipe dry. Replace every 3
years the rubber seals. Can be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened in
a solution of water and a mild neutral detergent. Leaving the resin
band wet (or subjected to high humidity) can cause the band to dete-
riorate, cut or crack. Wipe it off with a soft cloth as soon as pos-
sible. Keep the sensor (semiconductor pressure sensor) free of sand,
dirt, dust, and other foreign matter. To clean the watch, rinse it
with fresh water.

Buttons: | 07:47 |

C \-----/ D
* "C": hold for 1 or 2 sec in any mode to switch back to TIME.
* "B": on ADJUST mode, switch between 12/24-hour format
Changing the measurement units, automatically terminate measurements
on run. Changes memory units too (recalculate, but not the changes on
the value itself, to + or -, if changed apart the factory values). To
change: on BaroGRAPHIC display --> "A"
ALTIMETER: estimated in accordance with ISA (International Standard
Atmosphere). The 1st 5 minutes: read every 5 secs; after that, every
2 minutes. Unit: 5 m (20 feet). Range: 0-6000 m (0-19680 feet). After
10 hours without press any button --> TIME mode. ALTI flashes while a
measurement is being taken every 5 secs. AUTO flashes while a memory
measurement is in progress. GRAPH: unit 10m (40ft). AUTO memory: read
when time is 00, 15, 30 and 45 min. Is possible simultaneous with
other modes. Change value: in the altimeter mode, ---> "A". Press "C"
to select: alt. ALARM, AUTO/MANUAL ( "B" & "D" ) and reference alt.
"A" return to ALTIMETER. AUTO: if selected (see above) hold down "D"
till a beep. To stop: hold "D" again. MANUAL: idem. Setting reference
alt.: "B" + "D" = OFF. ALARM: when go up and down --> alt. mode, then
"A", select ALARM whit "C", then "B" & "D"; when hold either = high
speed; "B" + "D" = OFF. The "seconds" GRAPH divides into 10 the start
point alt. and the alarm set. AUTO start point = 1st measure; MANUAL
start point = 0m (0ft). An arrow appears once target altit. was pass.
MEMORY recall: "C" till the mode, then "B" & "D". Holding either = hi
speed. The data item displayed when exit = when enter again. Auto me-
mory: GRAPH divides by 10 the dif. between the max. & min. To DELETE:
AUTO (entire set): display the start data of the set of auto, then
hold "A" till a long beep ("CLR" stops flashing); MANUAL: idem for
each.
BAROMETER: measures every 2 hrs (starting midnight). Enter with "D".
Range: 460 mb to 1100 mb (13.55 inHg to 32.45 inHg); if falls outside
the display shows "---- mb" (or inHg). The normal display will return
as soon as the pressure returns within the allowable range. Unit of
the GRAPH: 1 mb/0.05 inHg. To calibrate: by the GRAPH, hold "A", then
"C" and "B" & "D"; "B" + "D" = OFF; holdind down either = hight speed
changes. "A" returns to GRAPH. Returns automatic if digits flash for
a few minutes whithout button operation.
THERMOMETER: is more accurate in a well ventilated location out of
direct sunlight, without moisture on the casa. It takes about 20 to
30 minutes to reach the actual surrounding temperature. Measurements
are taken every 5 seconds for the 1st 5 minutes after baroGRAPH and
after ALTIMETER. After that, every 5 minutes. RANGE: -20 C to 60 C
(-4 F to 140 F). Displays "--.-" C (or F) if value falls outside the
range, returning as soon as the temperature returns within the allow-
able range. To calibrate: display baroGRAPH then hold "A". Set as a-
bove like to the other functions. Press "A" to finish.
ERRORS: watch stop taking measurements when detecs a sensor malfunc-
tion, when battery are powerless or with temperature below -10 C
(14 F). Malfunction: "ERROR" flashes beneath the minute unit digit
and a buzzer sounds for 3 seconds [on ALT mode]. Low battery/low tem-
perature: "BATTERY" appears beneath the decimal minute unit digit.
When this messages clear once change modes, the watch can continue be
used normally, unless the error warning message reappers.
ALARM: 5 independent daily. It sounds for 20 secs. Press any button
stops it. Hourly Time Signal sound every hour. "C" enters the ALARM
mode, "D" select 1 through 5 and Hourly Time Signal. After selected,
hold "A", then "C", "D" & "B". Holding down either changes at high
speed. "A" return to the ALARM mode. "B" switches ON and OFF the se-
lected alarm/Hourly Time Signal. Holding down "D" sounds the alarm
(to test it).
STOPWATCH: Range: 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. "D" start/stop
the watch, "B" clears to "00.00". "B" while run: show SPLIT time. "B"
again clear the split time. "B" and after "D" show two "finishers":
"B" show the 2nd finisher, and "B" again clear the stopwatch.
This watch bases its altitude measurements on ISA values (by the ICAO
- International Civil Aviation Organization). The relationships
between altitude, alt. and temp.: about 6.5 C per 1000 m, about
12 mb/100 m (< 1000 m), ... , about 6.7 mb/100 m (near 6000 m). Then
0 m = 1013 mb = 15 C, 6000 m = 472 mb = -24 C. (0 ft = 29.92 inHg =
59.0 F, 20000 ft = 13.76 inHg = -12.2 F). Absolute altitude: absolute
hight above sea level. Relative altitude: between two places. The
"TV and newspaper" atmospheric pressures reports are corrected to va-
lues measured at 0 m sea level. [sic]
SPECIFICATIONS: accuracy at normal temperature +- 15 seconds a month.
Altimeter: max +- alt differential x 5 % + 30 m (fixed Temperature).
Altimeter: max +- 100 m every 10 C
Barometer: max +- pres. differential x 5 % + 3 mb (fixed Temp.).
Barometer: max +- 10 mb every 10 C
This values are guaranteed between -20C to 40C. Avoid strong impacts.
Temperature sensor: +- 2 C in range of -20 C to 60 C.
Battery: 1 lithium Type CR2025. Expected battery life: 2 years when:
1 second light/day, 20 seconds alarm/day, 10 hours climbing/month,
8 normal ( 5 minutes each ) measurements/month, 4 altitude alarm
(5 seconds each) per month.
