Hi Indy and all,

Ah the truckie's delimma, whether to stop eating that horrible truck stop
food or use a smaller steering wheel. I've seen some fellers have their
problems with weight and balance... in the cab so you're not alone. So
what do you do when you have to make a hard right at highway speed?

OK, there's your bait, you know I'm a master. (ducking comment)

Since I'm clueless as to why coax would pick up moise unless there's an
RF imbalance causing common mode currents so all I can say is if you want
to put yours in conductive tubing all I can think of is flexible gas line
or similar. The hardware store only sells short lenghts for gas cooking
appliances but an industrial supply house might have something more to
your liking. Then there is double shield coax of all types and consider
braid coverage, that's why I bring a pocket knife when buying it. The old
style Belden 9913 semi-rigid line comes immediately to mind as well as 75
ohm RG-6 quad shield used in CATV work, your rig won't mind.

I wonder what happened to all the 20M mobiles I used to hear, trucks were
fairly common followed by /AM and I even geard the last DC-3 still in
service as an island hopper in the Pacific. Maybe sunspots have something
to do with it but still I should hear an 18 wheeler somewhere in the
lower 48. For whatit's worth I recently heard from an old friend who
moved out of NJ a few years ago, we used to QSO on 2M every time he
passed through... in the locomotive. He would always kid people, "It's
more than 18 wheels I have here."

"I was referring to the GROSS weight of the truck..."

Somehow I don't think it's the truck that's gross. (A bit of Yankee slang
there.) I remember from school "a pint's a pound the world round" so
what's the difference between Imperial and American? I never did figure
out the difference in gallons considering the pints, usually there's 8 of
them. As for America converting entirely to metric, that would make
certain calculations come out with impossibly long and confusing
decimals. Based on 12 calculations of Earth and the solar system come out
right and those dopes at NASA who thought metric is better crashed a
gazillion dollar Mars lander, remember? Nah, America knows better, the
rest of the world is all wrong. I was going to say all wet but at present
I can think of only one Ozzie who fits that definition and for once it's
not Bob.

"Solving Cat C15 Crud is an entirely different kettle of fish..."

Some cook lunch on the manifold so let us know how the fish come out.
Meanwhile I hope you get rid of the crud, it spoils the taste even when
the food is wrapped in aluminium foil as it should be anyway.

One last thought, I hope you don't have to go to Albany for a while, the
place is littered with frogs. Give them time to find the lake, Bob will
show them the way if only to get them out of his house, the black ants
are bad enough.
