Evidence for this statement?
If you use some modifyed kiss like smack or bpq multidrop-kiss (x-kiss) is it
possible to use crc, but not if you use kiss like most people does.
There is not such accurate timing and you will not get the short response time
needed for dama etc. You can't transmit real time data when using kiss as you
can when using 6pack and when using 6pack is also the channel access algorithm
implemented in the pc or what ever hardware you use.
Especially when using kiss tokenrings is kiss realy bad working compared to
6pack used in a tokenring.
Any how is 6pack always better working than kiss so if you can use 6pack do so.
And it is not only if you use flexnet 6pack can be used, many other nodes, ax25
stacks etc supports it.
Kiss was never intended to be very good just as the name indicated, so it is
not very stange that it is not the best host/tnc protocol avaliable (even if
some improvements in hacks like bpq kiss have been done), it was intended to be
a kind of a temporary solution to the problem that pepole wanted to recycle
their old tncs when they no longer wanted to use a dumb terminal, din't want to
use is as a tnc any more, but it have been used since then.

It is not very clever to use a noin crc kiss, but still many does.
