Hi Peeps.
Looking forward to the warm sunny days when the roads are dry and
tempting, well, they will soon be here HI.

This bull is aimed at any BMW K1100 LT riders out there. Recently one of
our boy's in blue had rear brake failure on his BMW K1100LT whilst out on
patrol, lucky they work independently and the front was still operational.
On examination it revealed that the pipe running from the brake pedal
reservoir, to the rear calliper, had worn and a small hole had appeared
where it had rubbed on the swinging arm. This applies to the mark 2 system
where the pipes are solid ones and not of the flexible type.

Well, a circular was sent to ALL POLICE FORCES in the U.K. for this type
of system to be checked, and it appears that it was possibly a ONE OFF,
but if you do own one of these machines, then it is worth a check to be on
the safe side. Of course there are a number of causes for this fault, and
there have been no fingers pointed at BMW as to it being a design fault.
It only takes a couple of seconds to check and I am glad to say my work's
bike was given the all clear, but I shall be keeping an eye on it all the
same!! Keep it on the black bits guy's and gal's, only 3 years to
retirement this end, Yipppeeeeeee..........!

Just as a matter of interest, with regards to the Honda ST1100 Pan
Europeans that we use, we have had no recalls, no reported problems, still
giving good service, and plenty of life left in them! The choice is YOURS!
This is not a message in favour of any particular motorcycle, it is aimed
at safety purposes only.
