Hi Bob and all,
Since I changed the subject I may as well change the TO field and subject
field to match, hang the copycat Winpack. (;->)
It seems like Australia doesn't have national distribution of goods like
the US, just about everything including hooch goes everywhere, comes from
everywhere. Oddly enough on the occasional trip to the store there is a
noticible lack of NJ wines or maybe I haven't looked close enough. Beer
on the other hand flows like water especially since Anheuser Busch holds
license for many and has a massive brewery in Newark. (That's mostly
new-erk) for Jersey, new-ark for Delaware.)
I haven't looked for craft beer since I'm not all that fond of beer in
the first place but the heat of summer is here, one caught my attention
though when I read an internet discussion that mentioned it. I thought it
was somebody's idea of a Photoshop joke but you'll find it for real with
a little Google search... HE'BREW. (Everywhere else it's all caps too.)
The labels are all done up with Hebrew lettering, the names of the
various versions are Old Testament names, the works. Oh, the variations
come from small ammounts of "holy" juices added, that is they're
mentioned in the Jewish Bible and considered sacred. Made by Jews for
Jews one might say, they're certified Kosher too! Hmmm, Kosher wine has
been around forever, 'bout time a kid from San Francisco came up with
Kosher beer and a terrific marketing plan.
I'm no expert on regional accents so pulling the "I live here and you
don't" routine this time frankly I don't think you are even close to
perfection. I'll give you credit for easily recognizing a Southerner's
drawl being so unique. BTW, since TV has finally recognized the
Confederacy all of a sudden they all speak with cute Southernisms... toss
another shrimp on the barbie.
Frankly I wouldn't either since they'd fall through the grill into the
fire and stink up the place. Interestingly enough I almost never hear
Aussieisms on the radio (gotta love internet audio streaming) once in a
while one or more will show up in e-mail. I can't say understanding comes
easy since many out of context make no sense at all but surrounded I can
usually figure them out.
High winds and heavy rain for everyone but Bob, that's par for the
course. I don't know how Strawberry Hill got its name either but
naturally Perfection has a wind screen to protect the King. It must be a
good one or you'd sail on a summer breeze, banking off of the northeast
wind, skipping over the ocean like a stone.
(Harry Nilsson, first album.)
I suppose by now you've heard about our tornadoes by now, consider
yourself lucky that cyclones are one of the least of your problems down
under. This is the worst season on record in every category including
lives lost, 120 in Joplin, Missouri and still counting last I heard as
the search and rescue has long since turned into search and recover. I'm
sure glad NJ only gets the occasional weak one!
