Hi Pete and all,

Sorry 'bout the change Chief, I followed someone else's TO field and
changed it back to the original.

Ah, the old transmitter in a can camoflage! That was only one of many
variations on the old walkie talkie in a tree trick, most were found
eventually but not mine, hooked up to a wall wart and stuffed behind my
girlfrien's dresser was the best hiding place of all. Nice to have one of
those next door to the pain in the butt you want to get even with! The
best part is it was one of those Starlite AM radio combos, I wired it to
transmit whatever station the AM side was tuned to. He being a racis SOB
got one of my favorite stations on his home channel, 1430 WNJR Soul
Radio. (;->)

Dual SSB stereo was an innovative way of doing it before the Kahn ISB AM
stereo system came along. Hmmm, K2PG having what ammounts to a 1KW AM
broadcast station on 160M planned to use his Kahn exciter but it never
got off the ground. BTW, a nice advantage it has, ISB can be adjusted to
favor one sideband thus protecting an adjacent channel and could come in
handy when the AM window gets crowded.

I think you mentioned Annie a while back and that cluster of mobiles
across from the shop reminds me of a similar and ongoing incident with
the cops who were just a bit too curious about the stereo center owned by
a friend of mine. Too bad it's more than a K Monster, it would have you
rolling how we tormented the local gendarmarie by way of revenge for
putting a crimp in our business. They never did figure out why the lot
was full of vans and bikes or what was going on in there at 2:00am, ha ha!
Oh and BTW not only did we have CB but something else hooked up to the
antenna that drove them nuts, can't talk about it here so I'll let you
use your imagination.

That's odd, you weren't allowed to talk across the border but I held a
Canadian license, hmmm. Somehow that doesn't make sense but little about
CB does anyway and I never try to make sense out of nonsense.

Hams going back to CB? I guess it's safe to go back in the water if you
can find someone to talk to or don't find yourself in the middle of a
whacker cluster.
