On Christmas Day 28 was alive with beacons:-

From 0000Z KH6AP, JE7YNQ, VK3RMH, VK5WI, VK4RTL, ZL3TEN, ZL2MHF and
pirates from the north west. All at good strength except for the ZLs who
were about strength 2..

26/12/03 from 2300Z on Xmas Day Z (0700 WAST) beacons all day:-
KH6AP, VK2RSY, JE7YNQ, VK5WI.

VK5WI was still at good strength at 0200 Z (2200 WAST) NO amateurs heard
or worked.I was surprised to hear a signal on 10 at that late hour.

50 MHz: Nothing heard at all. No response to CQs on 50.110
144 MHz: nothing.

It looks as if the VHF DX season will be another fizzer for about the
fourth year in a row. A couple of reports from ZL3MH indicate that ZL is
working all Australian states except VK8 (probably nooone there active on
6 m.) and VK6 where there are a number of active stations. Disappointing!
Back to scanning 6 and calling CQ on 50.110 at intervals. Spare us an ear
someone.
Bob VK6BE.
