Plenty of beacons today!
0150Z	28.264	VK6RWA	329 (sited in Perth 400 km north of me - off side
				of beam.
	28.260	VK5WI	539
	28.262	VK2RSY	549
	28.228	ZL3TN	429
	28.209	KH6AP	569 (side of beam)
	28.189	XE1SRF	429 (that is a surprise - straight over South Pole)
	28.230	ZL2MHF	559 QSB deep.
28.450	amateur SSB American accent. These fellers don't give many
				callsigns do they?
0300Z	28.269	VK4RTL	539 (Townsville)
		VK5WI	539 (Adelaide)
		VK2RSY	539 (Sydney)
	28.256	VK3RMH	559 (Melbourne)
several pirates on AM - Indonesia??
0600 VK3RMH	559

I then had to leave to go to a funeral

0830 VK5WI	539
		VK2RSY	529
	28.268	VK8VF	589 (Darwin)
		VK4RTL	539
0930 VK8VF	589 (side of beam)

Six Australian states and territories there in that lot plus Hawaii,
Mexico, New Zealand, and probably a W6 on SSB - not bad for a dead band!

Mexico is really long haul - not sure of the distance but would be round
6000 miles I would think. Someone with a Great Circle map centred on
Albany coud correct me on that except that I don't think such a map
exists!!Perth is only 400 km and I would think that ws back scatter since
turning the beam in the direction of Perth did not improve the signal.

I am uncertain of the distances of some of these places from my home here
but by road - Adelaide is almost a direct line and is 2200 km + or - a
bit.TOwnsville would be about 4000 and Darwin a little less.
Cheers,
BOb VK6BE.
