Hi Bob and readers,

Ah, so Australia also uses 49Mc for baby minders and portable phones!
Such a gold mine you have eavesdropping on the neighborhood. Maybe I
should call it a dirt mine considering all the dirt I have heard on that
band over the years. Those devices broadcast over considerable distance,
especially if the base unit is on an upper floor and with a good
receiving antenna (like a 6M job) you can hear them for miles.

Good idea keeping mum, don't kill the goose that lays golden eggs, keep
listening and you'll learn a whole lot about half the town let alone a
neighbor or two. Dirty dirty now, keep a recorder going and you can sell
it to the tabloids. (;->)

BTW, the one and only time I ever let it be known what I heard was in the
case of a gambling ring operating out of a house down the block where I
used to live in a city up north. I told the police what I heard and on
what frequency, they investigated and busted the lot. I suppose the FCC
could waive the part of the USC dealing with the Privacy In
Communications Act Of 1934 As Ammended since criminal activity via radio
is a criminal act in itself. (;->)
