Hello beacon fans!
I am happy to inform that from 30.jun.95 there are 3 new beacons going in test
outside Bergen, Norway.
LA4TEN 28.211 Mhz 250W ERP Omni 35 mAsl (Ant: Vertical 9.9 dbi).
LA4VHF 144.890 Mhz 25W ERP Omni 35 mAsl (Ant: Discone)
LA7UHF 432.830 Mhz 20W ERP Omni 35 mAsl (Ant: Discone)
QTH: JP20MG in the island Sotra outside Bergen.
The beacons will run in test as much as possible (but with down
periods from time to time due to adjustments & vaccation etc.)
From the middle of august - 95 all three beacons will be permanently mounted
in new QTH JP20LG. This is as far west as possible before the north sea border.
From this moment (reflected in new CW messages) the beacon's data will be:
LA4TEN 28.211 Mhz 250W ERP Omni 35 mAsl (Ant: Vertical 9.9 dbi)
LA4VHF 144.890 Mhz 380W ERP 0 degrees 35 mAsl (Ant: 2 * 8 el. Yagi)
LA7UHF 432.830 Mhz 280W ERP 0 degrees 35 mAsl (Ant: 13 el. Yagi)
Especially the strong 10mtr beacon should be possible to monitor this summer
with some (hopefully) good Es around.
Please send a little report via packet if you hear any of the three beacons.
The beacons are all mounted in the same rack with a fan and a very heavy
power supply (5, 12 & 24 volts). The CW logic is built around a 27C64 eprom
wich is capable of two CW message channels for each beacon (plus one spare).
For other CW eprom burners around, I can inform you that I have designed a
complete CW compiler on PC for the 27C64 eprom. Just type your messages in
plain ascii text and compile it. The compiler outputs a ready to burn .BIN file
for the eprom burner. The compiler contains also a built in eprom database
where one can store message data for thousands of eproms (if one wish, hi) for
later compiling and/or re-editing. The program runs under DOS, but uses a
windows like graphical user interface (GUI). It will also run in a windows
dos box.
This PC software is free to the radio amateur community. But only if you cover
the postage cost, diskette and envelope. No - I will *not* send it as 7plus
files over the packet network. The compiler is already over 600K and expected
to grow further as new features is added.
