Change of QTH for GB3RAL 10 Metre Beacon
----------------------------------------
The RSGB 10 metre beacon GB3RAL located at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory
Ionospheric Station, Ditton Park, Slough, Berkshire operating on 28.215 Mhz
was closed down on Thursday 30th June at 10:00 UTC.
This was planned and the Beacon has now been relocated at the Laboratory
main site at Chilton, Oxfordshire.
The Beacon was re-established on 28.215 Mhz at 12:50 UTC on Monday 4th
July. The transmitter is running 10w output to a 5/8 wave ground plane,
24 hours per day from the RAL Amateur Radio Club hut (G3RRS).
The FSK morse identification text has been changed to " DE GB3RAL QRA
IO91IN " to reflect the change of QTH. It is hoped that the beacon will
continue to provide indication to overseas operators of propagation to the
British Isles.
