All John Howard did was to sign the sympathy card for the funeral.
It was a mistake which has not yet been overcome.
As to the United Nation Human Rights Committee, if I remember correctly at
the time of the critism it was chaired by that paragon of human rights Lybia
and a number of countries of similar ilk.
I have vague idea that around that time China was also a member.
Can't remember if it was at a time close to the Tienamen Square demonstration
of freedom of speach.
Anyway I remember clearly that the human rights committee was considered to
be a very hypocritical organisation.
