BPL update
----------
There are reports out of Tasmania that substantial interference to the 20m
band is the result of possible pre-testing of BPL trial in Hobart.

Aurora Energy has notified the ACMA of its intention to begin its second
BPL trial in Tasmania using frequencies from 3MHz to 34MHz from 29 August.
The trial involves homes in the Mt Nelson and Newtown areas.

However radio amateurs have already observed BPL-like signals on air at
over strength-9 and are asking that the source of this harmful
interference be identified and stopped immediately.

Aurora Energy's first trial was in Hobart and ran from mid April - mid
June 2004, with the company hailing it a success while radio amateurs
claimed it caused high levels interference.

Ballarat in Victoria may also have a BPL trial in the future, but the
company involved Fortress Networks won’t say when except that it’s not
going to happen soon.
