Hi Bob and readers,
Gee, you must be the only Aussie who doesn't know what a shielagh is,
maybe if I write Shielagh you'll recognize the name. I don't know why or
how it got applied as a slang term for women but here it is alongaide
birds, chicks and all the rest. Contrary to popular belief "chick" comes
from the Spanish "chiquita" meaning "young girl". Chicko Marx (not Chico)
was so named because he chased after the chicks.
Anyhoo, nobody but a fool would belive the character played by Paul Hogan
was real, but he IS the consumate Aussie, think about all his endearing
traits. Steve Irwin (Crocodial Hunter) and his clones are foolish indeed
and love to show off for the camera. No way in HELL did I ever handle a
snake by the tail venomous or not, great way to be bitten. Same for
lizards, always gently hold them right behind the head as not to excite
them and of course if they do become agitated they can't bite you. Well,
I DO get a laugh every time Steve or one of the others takes a nip, quite
often they hang on so long the camera is switched off while the little
beast tires or loses interest. I can tell you from experience, sometimes
I just went about my business with a baby dinosaur clamped on somewhere.

BTW, I didn't know Steve now has a son to play baby brother to his
daughter, live and learn. Sorry to learn he did an MJ on him though, not
very smart.
