The active and neutral pins are only insulated for a part of their length, that
being from the base of the plug to about 10mm down the length op the pins. The
Active pin normally uses brown insulation & the neutral blue, although I have
seen
some all black configurations as well. It is obvious when you look at a plug /
socket connection that this portion of the 3 pin plug would not be in electrical
contact anyway so the current rating of the pins is not affected.
