BUILT IN NASTINESS!

I was rather surprised (although perhaps I should not have been) to see
the latest from Andy G0FTD in reply to ZS6JF;

ZS2JF sent:-
> Was it your intention to "get up the nose" of as many Emigrants as
> possible by writing the above ?

In reply Andy said;
_________

" No.

It was in fact a brand of humour well known to thse (sic) who live in the
UK.

If you don't like then tough. (sic)

You need a humour transplant OM - this is 2003 amd (sic) not the era of
Queen Victoria. If you have a chip on your shoulder about such humour then
I'd watch out because us G-STATIONS who have a brain will use that chip
on your shoulder for target practice ;-)

Kiss my ascii!!

- Andy -
- Who's (sic) family settled in the Barossa Valley (VK5) and came from
Germany -
- Unlike those who SEEK to take offence !!!) "
__________

Not only a nasty reply but sinking to a level downright disgusting.

Such offensiveness is not called for within Amateur Radio circles.

This so called "brand of humour" is just a pretence. I know many people
both within and from the U.K. who are far better mannered than several of
the "G" Amateur Radio operators I could name.

These chaps try to hide behind the fence making claims such as "It didn't
seem too bad to me", and, you don't understand our humour" etc.

Don't worry mate, we have had plenty of connection with and understanding
of British people, and have no trouble picking out those who are probably
lower than any of the transported convicts ever were.

Rational thinking is also thrown to the winds where a reply to offensive
material is made regarding not reading of such items.

Logic obviously fails when one cannot grasp the fact that offensive
material is just that. The offense is to ANOTHER person's sensibilities.

The matter of how a person comes across whatever offends is no excuse for
the offense in the first place.

The attitude of, " If you don't like then tough (sic)." is symptomatic of
an unthinking lout and certainly indicates the nature of someone who just
does not care one jot about any other person's feelings.

Much of the problems with the world today are due to such selfish
attitudes.

"Chips on shoulders" seem to be a "thing" at the moment with Andy. He is
in fact showing that he is one with probably the greatest collection of
chips on shoulders.

As to suggesting a "humour transplant" that is rudeness indeed.

Thus one has to wonder just who these "G-STATIONS" are who do have a
brain. To label all the British operators as such as those who constantly
throw out such nastiness as we have evidenced would be unfair.

I would like to think that some of the more sensible amongst our U.K.
friends might just let their compatriots know that they are "letting the
side down".

The matter of the thinly veiled coarse language is hardly worth comment.

However, such can only be treated with contempt and disdain by anyone who
subscribes to decent values.

I also have to wonder just what on earth people settled in the Barossa
Valley and from Germany have to do with any of this ???

One does not necessarily "seek' to take offence. The error is with those
who set out to be deliberately offensive.

I also quote one well known old and wise saying to the effect that;

"Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit."

I finish this criticism with an appeal to those who do value decency to
make their feelings known on this matter.

Regards,

Ian
