Hi Paul and readers,
Now hold on one New York minute (second)!!! Let's not bring law nor
politics into a discussion on the proper use and definitions in the
English language!
Just to clarify and point out your erronious misinformation stemming from
ignorance of America and it's laws, allow me to rebuff your remarks, then
move on. First, I am not trying to apply US standards to ANYTHING,
English language notwithstanding. Our language like any other has it's
own, universally understood standards to begin with although obviously
there are some who try to apply other standards which have nothing to do
with the language at all, LEGAL standards.
You mentioned a magistrate and a barrister (judge and lawyer) whom you
quoted who have applied the standard of law to the language rather than
applying the standard of language to law as I had mentioned our legal
system does. DON'T BLAME ME if your so called legal linguists have it
arse backward!
You say "Have a look at our system and have a look at your system.",
well, I have and you have served to reinforce my belief that you truely
are the land down under when you compare a system that applies law under
pre existing standards to one who applies law under it's OWN standards
while redfining language to suit it's own agenda.
Don't mind me, I'm just tossing your remarks back using words that go
straight to the heart of the matter, sort of an echo with a mind of it's
own. (;->)
Now come on man, get real! We haven't been allowed to carry guns and kill
someone, EVER, not even in the Old West! Oh man, better go back to the
videro store and check out those Westerns again, even in Abeline and
Dodge the bad guy always got his. In real life however, in some states
even today we are allowed to carry guns quite openly (concealed weapons
are another matter) but that does not give anyone a license to kill.
Please, get your facts straight before disseminating disinformation and
misinformation.
I never even thought you were condoning the practice of using foul
language so there is no reason to reiterate. On this we agree entirely,
but frankly those two legal eagles should be shot. (;->) BTW, nothing
personal intended by my deliberately strong remarks as the target is the
morons who consider themselves learned just because they studied law and
failed to study English. Talk about narrow minded, have you ever tried to
pour the ocean through a funnel?
OK, now that I have vented excess (something) let's get back to the
proper use of the language, that is if you want to continue. It's fine by
me, but frankly it has served it's purpose. After speaking privately with
the principals I think their little escapade is finished and the lesson
learned.
