This has to be a joke right?
Oh for crying out loud PUHleeaasSE!! Grow UP Pete! He typed or quoted or
whatever that most unforgivable of 6 letter words "W*NK*R" that which is
generally considered to describe someone who manipulates one of their
bodily extremeties with a little too much enjoyment. I believe the
politically correct term these days might be "owner operator" *LOL* It's
also a popular euphemism for a silly person "down under". You'll note the
original was part of a humurous and self mocking take off about ouselves
in particular. We say it about ourselves and laugh and you get cut about
it??! OK, I give up.
Did someone mention something about cultural differences in this somewhere
or something similar? I'm sure someone did anyway, You're just going to
have to accept that this is part of the popular Australian idiom. You
often hear it applied and more often then not with a smile on both sides.
A bit like a Brit might call someone even a friend a "silly bugger" or a
"silly sod". Both of which perhaps have a far viler original meaning. Also
worth noting if you have just read this bulletin is that this message was
not stopped for either of those words was it hmm? Perhaps not what one
would say to the Queen but acceptable among the real people. Although then
again, perhaps taking into account the dearly missed Queen Mother's well
known irreverent attitude towards her valued and gay household staff
perhaps that might be in doubt also. (Oh my! you ARE allowed to say "gay"
on the U.K. packet network aren't you?)
Pffft I'm sorry, but you're really going to have to find something with a
lot more substance behind it then that if you want to burn Bob at the
stake. Quite frankly, to make such a big deal about it probably makes the
majority of Australian Hams think you're a bit of an "owner operator"
yourself.
