Ha! a storm in a a teacup. I am glad I only drink coffee....

As for VK6JZ's soliloquy placed in word form in a packet. As an ex Pom
and now an Ozzie (Had brain removed) I can confirm have now seen the
offending article, that none of the words in that piece could be
classified as expletives that should have been deleted. Tainted, not in
good taste, agreed.

Admittedly those of a closed upbringing may find some of the contained
words in bad taste and possibly offensive. But this is the 21st century
and Lady Chatterly's Lover which I believe to contain an execrable
expletive or two, has general public awareness, even tho it is lousy book
on game keeping.

These lesser & milder definitive words of distaste in George's message are
all contained in the Oxford and McQuairie Dictionaries and are accepted
and used regularly on TV in plays and comedy shows in the USA/UK/VK/NZ etc

For example the word "bloody" is used by nearly all States in VK by the
Police Authorities in their Drink and Drive campaigns..Huge signs saying:
"If you drink and drive you're a bloody idiot" beam down at us from
roadside posters, TV and Radio ads and on footie guernseys (Ozzie Rules
that is)

On an etymological (no that's not a swear word) point of interest the word
bloody, originates from Norfolk UK and originally was a "swear" word -- I
swear "by my lady" and became abbreviated over time to bloody. "blast" is
another word again from Norwich a shoe making town of old, whose
inhabitants, mostly cobblers used: I swear "by my last" a last being a
metal former for making shoes.

It brings us then to the definition of swear. Again its etymological
source shows it is a word used in declaring an oath, a truth, giving a
statement foundation of honesty and substance. I am sure most of you know
that in a court of law before giving evidence, you have to swear an oath
to tell the truth.

It does not mean an expletive used by persons unable to express themselves
through lack of an education in the use the language of their birth.

You will note throughout I have referred to "unacceptable" words as
expletives, thus confining them to their correct classification.
This is the difficulty with the English language, because of its
multicultural origins, many words sounding the same have total differing
meanings. ie. Whether the wether likes the bad weather. Similarly words
spelled identically can have totally different meanings i.e "to swear"

As for the American spelling of the English language its a whole new
world! Though I understand that are going to replace the "i" back in
aluminium :-)

Here endeth the lesson in English as she is writ and spook (sic)
You all have a nice day

Now I suggest everyone now goes and reads my message to Packet entitled
