ARLB016 FCC Declares Communications Emergency in Virginia               

The Federal Communications Commission in conjunction with the ARRL
today announced a Communications Emergency to exist in Virgina.               

Under the authority of section 97.401 of the Federal Communications
Commission's Rules nd Regulations (47 C.F.R. Part 97) a
Communications Emergency is declared in Virginia requiring the     
protection of amateur emergency communications frequencies.
Amateurs are required to refrain from using
  3947 KHz and 7243.5 KHz plus or minus 3 KHz, 
  also 145.430 MHz, 146.880 MHz Richmond, 147.360 MHz Chesterfield,
  146.760 MHz, Williamsburg
unless they are taking part in the handling of emergency traffic.  
This order is effective immediately until rescinded.
