                         ANNOUNCEMENT

       ARRL/VEC TEST SESSION; US FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS
          COMMISSION (FCC) AMATEUR RADIO EXAMINATIONS


EVENT:  Examinations for U.S. FCC amateur radio licenses.

SPONSOR:  by the Eifel VE Team.

EXAMINATION DATE:  Saturday, 26 September 1998

TIME:  1200 hrs local; however, please be 30 minutes early.

LOCATION:   Bitburg, Germany (JN39GX).  The test session
will be held in building 2002 located in the old French
caserne (known also as "Eifel West" which is part of the
American US military housing).  The old French caserne
is about 1000 feet from McDonalds restaurant, Bitburg.
Further directions are available upon request.

GENERAL:

     1. Retesting of failed elements the same day is not
normally offered at our test sessions.  We may make an
exception to this policy only if time permits.

     2. Make sure you have a U.S. mailing address; you must
have use of a U.S. mailing address in order for your FCC
paperwork to be processed.  The FCC will not mail your
license to a non-US address!

YOU ARE REQUIRED TO BRING :

     1. a legal photo Identification (i.e. driver's license
or passport)

     2. the original and a copy of any current FCC license
or CSCE.  We do not have copying services available.

     3. The test fee of $6.35 (price subject to change)

IMPORTANT NEWS:

Because of the increased international political
tensions, extra security measures have been
implemented in our area.  This will directly
affect some participants to our ARRL/VE test
session scheduled for 26 Sep 98 in Bitburg, Germany.
Please circulate the following information to those
wishing attendance to our test session.


     NOTICE TO ANYONE WISHING TO ATTEND THE
     ARRL/VE TEST SESSION SCHEDULED FOR
     26 SEP 98 AT BITBURG, GERMANY: If you do
     NOT have a valid US military identification
     card (ID), you will need to bring your
     passport so that we may obtain permission
     to escort you onto the military installation.
     No other form of identification is acceptable.
     Non-ID card holders who fail to bring their
     passport WILL be denied entry to the test
     session. Military police will not make any
     exceptions.  These extra measures are
     unavoidable and are effective until further
     notice.
