Ariane flight V80: launch of ISO

The 80th Ariane launch is scheduled to take place in the night
from of Friday 10 to Saturday 11 November 1995.

An Ariane 44P vehicle (the Ariane 4 version equipped with
4 solid strap-on boosters)  lifting off from the Guiana Space
Center- the European space port in Kourou, French Guiana-
will place into orbit ESA's ISO scientific satellite.

The launch window opens at 22:45 hrs and closes at 23:30
hrs on 10 November , Kourou time (01:45 hrs-02:30 hrs
GMT; 02:45 hrs-03:30 hrs Paris time/CET on 11 November).

ISO is the first true space borne Infrared Space Observatory
and will feature unprecedented sensitivity for the exploration
of the universe.

Built by Aerospatiale for ESA, the spacecraft will have a
major impact on every field of astronomy, spanning from
solar systems through the birth and the death of stars, to the
most extragalactic sources.

ISO will operate from an Earth highly elliptical orbit (1000
km perigee and 70500 km apogee) with a 24 hour period.
